Welcome to the Whisper of God Blog Site.

This site is meant to give those who are reading the Bible daily a place where they can post comments, questions, or give input about what they would like to see included in the teaching emails.  If you have an encouraging word for what the daily Bible reading is meaning to you, please post it.  You never know how God could be using your encouragement to help someone else in God’s marvelous family.  Maybe you want to pass on how you do your reading or some other helpful input, please post your comments to help others.  Finally if you are interested in learning more about Whisper of God Ministries and my teaching or if you would like to discuss how your church can participate in a History of the English Bible seminar, please contact me through the email contact page.

Blessings,

Bill

(01/15) “Eat this Book”

Monday, January 15th, 2007

Reading the Bible everyday can have a profound meaning to your Christian walk with Christ.  Being in God’s Word saturates us with the truth of the Gospel.  Eugene Peterson, author of the Message Bible, writes in his book, Eat This Book, that daily reading or what he calls “spiritual reading” is the reading that “requires that we read with our entire life.”  The point is that when you read your Bible, are you reading it differently from the newspaper, a menu, an email.  Often times we Christians don’t read the Bible any differently.  Spiritual reading requires that we read with our lives.  We should approach God’s Living Word each day in such a way as to make what we read a part of us.  For only when we read the Bible so that it makes us more Christ-like do we really maximize our benefits.  We must read the Word so that it becomes part of our being.   Three times in Scripture someone is told to “eat” God’s Word.  Why?  We are told that to eat the Bible is to make it a part of who we are.  It gets into our blood, our very being.  In becoming one with us, we become more like Him about whom we read.  Are you digesting the Bible into your life or merely ordering a snack for the day?

(01/01) Tree of Life

Sunday, January 7th, 2007

The story of God’s interaction with His creation begins and ends with the Tree of Life (Gen 2:9; Rev 22:2).  Both are in a paradise.  This fact symbolizes for us the single thread that is woven through the entire Bible.  It is His Story.  From beginning to end, the Word is about God’s love for you and His desire to give you true “Life”.  This Life is an everlasting life that bears good fruit.  This life is one that is to be lived in the fullness of who God wants you to be in Him.  It is a life that comes from saving relationship with in Jesus Christ.  As you begin this marvelous and exciting journey through the scripture, remember that what you are reading is Living and Active (Heb 4:12).  It will transform your life as you walk with the Savior.  I pray God’s richest blessing on you. NASA has one single photograph that shows 20 billion stars.  The reference in the creation story to this is simply “and he created the stars also”.  But He has created you with His own image.  How important do you think that makes you to God?
